Gas Emergencies

 
If you smell gas or think you have a gas leak:

• Open all doors and windows
• Don’t use any electrical equipment (including light switches) or naked flames
• Turn off the gas using the emergency control valve by the meter. It’s off when the ridged line on the spindle is positioned across the pipe
• Call Transco’s 24 hour emergency service on 0800 111 999.

Your call will be attended to by the Local Distribution Zone operator. They’ll make safe any escape of gas or damage to the buried supply pipes affected.
