- Monday, March 03, 2008
Core Utility Solutions has begun work on a £1.6 million contract to provide the electricity and gas infrastructure at Greenlaw, a mixed-use development project in Newton Mearns just outside Glasgow.
As part of this project, Core has also just been awarded a contract with Stewart Milne Homes to provide the gas, electricity and water infrastructure to 116 new homes it is building on the site. Already, Core has diverted the existing infrastructure on the greenfield site to make way for the developers and to allow for the removal of peat which is being carried out by main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine. The development is spread across a 119 acre site which is being utilised for a mix of residential, commercial, business and educational purposes.
The multi-utility company has now begun work installing the infrastructure for independent network operator, GTC which is part of the International Energy Group . By working with GTC represents Core’s flexibility and ability to work with independent network operators. Peter Jones, Operations Director North of Core said: “This is a huge project for the Newton Mearns area and it is great to be a part of the team developing Greenlaw. “We have a dedicated project team working on this development to meet our client’s requirements, ensuring things on-site run smoothly and works proceed as per the planned schedule.
Core’s work on the main site infrastructure is expected to be completed by the end of May with the first Stewart Milne homes being ready later this year.
The Greenlaw Development Company is a consortium led by Elphinstone and comprises housebuilders Stewart Milne Homes, Manor Lane, Arklet and Charles Church. The project will see nearly 470 residential homes and will include a 30 acre business park, a hotel, school site and local retail and medical facilities.
