Second phase of multi-utility solutions

Core has been awarded the second phase of the Ravenscraig project which amounts to over £2million of multi utility connections and consultancy services.

The first phase of the project saw Core install over 1km of 450mm water pipe, almost 1.5km of 315mm gas pipe, and 14.5km in total of BT, Virgin Media and telecom ducting across an area covering approximately 1 sq km. The second phase of the project is under way with which will house the new 200,000 sq ft state-of-the-art Motherwell College campus.

A project the size of Ravenscraig requires a huge amount of detailed planning. It also requires thorough preparation and alignment with the client, designer, consultant and operational staff.

Phil Nokes, Project Manager for Ravenscraig Ltd said: “I believe the decision to use a multi-utility approach has been an advantage to a major construction project like Ravenscraig. “We first started working with Core when they were still a relatively new company but they have worked very hard to get into the spirit of the Ravenscraig contract held by Balfour Beatty.”
